There seem to be two types of emotions. One kind is emotions that are held in our bodies that are incomplete experiences from the past. The body seems to create these kinds of emotions for a purpose. I believe that these kinds of emotions are created by the body to bring us information, direct experiences from which we gain experiential wisdom about life. These are not experiences to be gotten rid of. It is only our conditioning of Resisting Feeling Things Fully that causes us to fear being overwhelmed by the feeling that makes us interpret them as unwanted. Once you learn and master the CORE technique you will have upgraded your inner human software to be able to Feel Things Fully, then you won’t have to fear that emotions are going to overwhelm you and your attitude towards them can shift from “getting rid of them” to completing them.
The second category of emotions is the kind that get created in reaction to stories that we make up in our minds and then live inside of as if they are real. There are two basic sub-types within this kind of emotion. They are expectations and projections. Expectations are stories that we make up in our mind about how we think or hope or want to have life show up. Projections are the kinds of stories that we make up about what we fear might happen in our life in the future. Both of these have a story that is the basis of the emotional reaction associated with the story. If you expect someone to treat you a certain way and then they don't, typically you'll have an emotional reaction of disappointment or anger. If you are projecting possible negative outcomes onto the future the emotion is the fear that you won't be able to handle it if that things you are fearing happens. In both cases, these are not old incomplete emotions from the past. They are emotional reactions that are new every time you have them. Each time you experience this kind of emotion it is because you are so absorbed in your story that the story and the associated emotion feel very real. They are not real. The events don't exist anywhere accept in your mind. But they feel as if they are real because we are so absorbed in and identified with the story.
So the distinction between completing incomplete emotional experiences (which are candidates for the CORE Technique) and extracting yourself from the energy of the emotions associated with unmet expectations and projections of possible negative outcomes onto the future (which are candidates for the SEE Technique) is an important distinction to grasp. If you approach them with the attitude of getting rid of them then you will very likely do the opposite and while trying to force them to go away you'll actually stuff them deeper inside of you, only to surface later or even worse turn into organic disease.
This is an awesome combination of techniques for freeing yourself from incompletions and identifications so you can have the life you really want which is to be a pure and powerful expression of your essential self and not just a product of your conditioning. Lots more details about how to do these two techniques and use them to clean up your inner emotional landscape in The Power of How.
I hope that you find this helpful,
