3 Core areas of your marketing, you may wish to review/consider....
1.
Lack of Focus - Not knowing what it is you want
2.
Beliefs - The thoughts that prevent you from experiencing the results you want
3.
Your environment - That which drains you instead of energises you
FocusMany people don't know what they want. They respond to circumstances instead of mapping out what is they desire. Desire is the catalyst of change., but quite often you need to look back over the journey you have been on and conduct a situation analysis or marketing audit to enable you to identify what it is you need to fix or address to help you unblock the flow of energy required to help set new goals and objectives.
1. Here's a quick exercise for you to try. It's
HEREBeliefsTwo things worth noting at this point:
1. That which you believe to be true will govern your actions (or lack of action)
2. That which you choose to believe will create an emotional energetic vibration
Feelings lead to thoughts, which lead to words, which lead to action.
Action then leads to Results.
Confidence > Progress > ResultsPositive Beliefs will empower you to action.
Negative Beliefs will prevent you from performing specifc actions which in turn, affect the results, quite significantly.
• Advertising doesn't work
• Networking is a waste of Time
• Tradeshows are too expensive
• I hate cold calling
• P.R. doesn't work for small businesses
• Affiliate programs don't work for services
• I don't like selling
Many of these self limiting beliefs can hold you back in the development of a marketing plan and prevent you from achieving the results you want.
Some beliefs about marketing, advertising and selling cause you to behave in certain negative ways due to the lack of results and can often cause people to choose to remain a victim and focus on Blame, Excuses and Denial, where as those who have positive beliefs about marketing take ownership and responsibility of their actions and want to be held accountable for their actions.
EnvironmentSo what gets in the way?
People react to the environment and stimuli around them.
That includes negative people, negative communications, and negative feedback.
Think of it this way….
Bob wakes up in the morning, his bedside radio alarm gives the early morning news and all the doom and gloom of the day. He gets up goes into the kitchen, and switches on the portable telly while he eats his corn flakes - more negative news. He jumps into the car and listens to the radio again or commutes on a train looking at the sea of glum, expressionless, quiet faces, heads down reading their books.
Do you think he's going to be really positive, absolutely "buzzing", full of adrenaline and feeling "alive" for that sales appointment, first thing?
Our environment can determine our energy levels. Negative energy from others can and does drain ours. Think of ways how you can boost your energy levels, to become more positive and to start focussing on your marketing in a positive manner.
It all boils down to energy at the end of the day.
All energy vibrates and moves in waves, attracting energy of a similar vibration.
Think about networking events, and even social networking websites, clubs and forums....
...Like attracts like. Birds of a feather flock together.Whether you like it or not, you actually choose the reality you are experiencing.
(and that includes the results you're experiencing with your marketing.)
You create your experiences with your thoughts and words, and thus attracting similar thoughts and words from others, and similar experiences vibrating at the same vibration.
You can choose to remain asleep, reacting to negative circumstances that you seem to attract, or you can wake up and become aware that your thoughts can indeed change your future experiences, and thus the results you experience with your marketing.
Most people, when they set a new goal or objective - they have aspirations or desires for a "Thing", an asset or an outcome. What they fail to understand that when it comes to their marketing, what they really want is to EXPERIENCE something.
It's the feeling or experience that's important as part of the goal setting and realisation of the goal not the "thing" Itself….
…A good way to identify with this is to complete the above BE, DO, HAVE exercise I outlined above, but this time add a "When…Then" sentence to each goal or objective you wrote in the 3 columns.
This will help you to express the feelings you want that these "things" represent.
e.g. When I win 2 new Clients, then I'll feel comfortable knowing that my bank balance has increased.
e.g. When I get the new website completed then I'll feel satisfied I'm making progress
etc etc.
You need to focus on the end results and the feeling you want to experience.
So you need to get in touch with your feelings and identify the feelings you want to
experience as a result of achieving your goals and new objectives with the correct positive marketing activities.
You need to experience those different feelings now in order to be in vibrational resonance with your desires and actions, and thus outcomes.
In other words, in the words of Obi Wan in Star Wars...
...Be open to feel the force
now for feelings create circumstances - in that order.
You feel, think, do and then experience.
Afterall circumstances don't create what you want, if anything, your current circumstances are the effects or symptoms of poor, bad or negative thinking and actions. So in marketing terms, circumstances (no sales, no leads, no referrals, no traffic etc) are created at the end of a process, not the beginning.( This is a very important aspect of the marketing mindset that 97%+ of your competitors will fail to recognise. )
Remember BE what you want now, DO what you need to Do in order to get or HAVE what you want. Most people simply activate the desire element so by recognising the want or need they actually crave (without activating the correct feelings) thus create further distance between themselves and their goal - pushing it further away.
This is further compounded by remaining in a negative mindset, and continuing to stay in your negative environment which can manifests itself in you giving off all the wrong negative "signals" when dealing with your prospects and clients.
By activating the correct feelings, and "being" that which you wish, it helps you to adopt the correct mindset, perform the correct actions, in order to create the environment you want and to experience the results that you desire.
So now that you know, what are you going to do?
What IS the next marketing objective you want to achieve and "Why"?More importantly "When" and "Then…" what?
